The Midwest Center for Holocaust Education, in partnership with Metropolitan Community College, Northland Symphony and the Heritage Philharmonic, will offer an orchestral concert to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Kristallnacht ("The Night of Broken Glass"). The program is free and open to the public.
Featured musical pieces written by composers during the time they were interned in concentration camps will be conducted by James J. Murray, III, Music Coordinator and Instructor at Maple Woods Community College, and enhanced with contextual narrative to enrich traditional audiences' understanding of the Holocaust. In addition, a general introduction for each piece as well as specific information about each composer will be provided. Written program notes and sponsor recognition will also be included. A dessert reception will follow.
