A teacher workshop offered in conjunction with the exhibition Eisenhower and the Righteous Cause: The Liberation of Europe. This workshop will focus on an overview of the Holocaust, the liberation and aftermath of the Holocaust, including the displaced persons camps, the creation of Israel, and the Nuremburg Trials.

Presented by the Eisenhower Presidential Library & Museum and the Midwest Center for Holocaust Education in partnership with the Lowell Milken Center and the Harry S. Truman Library & Museum.

This course approaches Holocaust history from the perspective of primary source testimony, with emphasis on local Kansas City survivors in the Witness to the Holocaust Archive at the Midwest Center for Holocaust Education. Special attention will be paid to analyzing different types of testimony, determining the role of memory in history, and personalizing the Holocaust through effective integration of testimony into Holocaust education.

Holocaust History and Resources for Educators - ONLINE

June 28-July 30, 2010

This graduate-level course is a chronological survey of Holocaust history with emphasis on the evolution of Nazi policy. The course will feature content-based readings and web-based activities, primary source analysis, survivor testimony, direct classroom application, and resources for use in 7th-12th grade classrooms.

This course is taught by MCHE's Jessica Rockhold through Ottawa University.
