Remembrance and Hope Resource Chests brings $2,000 worth of books, videos, CD-ROMs, curricula and poster sets to your classroom.

Teachers may rent a chest on the following basis:
4-week loan - $60 (plus $5.19 tax or a tax exempt number)
8-week loan - $100 (plus $8.65 tax or a tax exempt number)

The fee includes delivery within the 5-county Kansas City area. For schools outside this area, additional delivery charges will apply. Our insurance will not allow you to pick up the chests yourself.

We highly recommend that interested educators review the annotated bibliography and Historical Context in Holocaust Education which correlates Chest contents with historical content areas.

In requesting the loan of these resource chests, the teacher and/or the school or school district agree(s) to the following:

  • Chests are delivered after the start of school on the first day of each loan cycle and must be properly assembled and available for pick up in the school office no later than 7 a.m. on the last day of the cycle.
  • Chests will be housed in the classroom of the requesting teacher and will remain locked and secured when unsupervised.
  • All copyrights will be honored.
  • MCHE reserves the right to charge a second delivery fee if chests are not ready when the courier service arrives plus an administrative fee of $10-$25 for chests that are not returned with materials assembled according to the diagram provided in the teacher notebook. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

MCHE can create a Remembrance and Hope Chest and provide training for your school or school district for a total cost of $2,000. Check with your PTA or a corporate partner regarding sponsorship for this valuable project.

Remembrance and Hope Chests were created with a grant from the Jewish Heritage Foundation of Greater Kansas City.
