Remembrance and Hope Chest Orientation

MCHE's Remembrance and Hope Resource Chests bring nearly $2,000 worth of materials to your classroom. Because Chests can be overwhelming when they first arrive, MCHE has created this online orientation to help you navigate your way through the materials using pedagogically-sound teaching methods. Once completed, this three step process certifies 6th-12th grade educators to rent Chests on four-week cycles throughout the school year..

Step 1: The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum's Guidelines for Teaching the Holocaust
Please view this online seminar by Warren Marcus, USHMM Director of Teacher Workshops and Conferences. These 14 guidelines have become the standard in Holocaust education and provide valuable touchstones for educators as they teach this difficult history.

Step 2: MCHE Remembrance and Hope Resource Chest Contents
Please review the annotated bibliography and Historical Context in Holocaust Education which correlates Chest contents with historical content areas. These documents will familiarize you with the Chest contents and help you begin to sort through which materials deal effectively with specific themes in Holocaust history. It is recommended that you print these documents to utilize when your Chest arrives.

Step 3: Certification
Please complete this short certification form to verify that you have completed this online orientation process. To complete save the document to your computer, fill it out and email it to Jessica Rockhold at schools@mchekc.org. Once submitted will receive notification of completion.
